COVID-19 Practices

As a COVID Safe business, we are committed to the health and safety of our customers and staff. We are strictly following all Queensland Government guidelines regarding the spread of COVID-19.

As of December 17th 2021, the Cairns Aquarium will be designated an Indoor Entertainment Venue so will require all customers, 16 years and above, to be fully vaccinated with a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved COVID-19 vaccine. Unvaccinated public will not be allowed to enter.

To enter the Cairns Aquarium, we recommend using the Check In Qld app. All you need to do is:

  • Download the Check In Qld app from Google Play or Apple App stores
  • Add your COVID-19 Digital Vaccine Certificate

Check In Qld App: On arrival scan our QR code and select ‘Check in Now’. At the Admissions Counter, all customers aged 16 and above will need to show their approved Check In status and proof of their digital vaccination certificate from the Check In Qld app.

Medicare App – Your COVID-19 digital vaccination certificate can also be accessed through the Medicare app, from the Medicare-linked MyGov account or My Health Record.

Printed Copy – Alternatively, you can use a printed copy of your COVID-19 vaccination certificate or immunisation history statement and show proof of identity to match.

All of the Cairns Aquarium team have rolled up their sleeves and are fully vaccinated in order to comply with all Queensland Government guidelines.

We have installed signage throughout the aquarium, so you know exactly how far away you need to be from other people and how many people are allowed in each area at one time.

Hand sanitisers are located throughout the building for your use and we request that you use contactless payment options at all times.

We have increased our cleaning protocols in all areas of our businesses and will ensure all frequently used areas are regularly cleaned and sanitized as per the health department guidelines.

Vulnerable customers (those who are identified as ‘at-risk’) are recommended not to attend the premises until QLD Health advises it is safe to do so. Vulnerable customers who are comfortable attending the premises are advised to take their own additional safety precautions and are notified that the business cannot guarantee their safety.

Please note, these general guidelines are in compliance with Queensland Health and Australian Government Department of Health current recommendations, and the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) COVID Safe Plan. Advice will be amended in accordance with the most up to date recommendations.

We thank you for your cooperation in regards to these important safety measures and please don’t hesitate to reach out to our friendly team should you have any questions or contact [email protected] or 4044 7300
